The oldest of the pieces below first appeared in Smoke as part of the regular feature “Words Found Written On The Steamed-Up Windows Of Late-Night Buses”. Trying to create snapshots of London in 30 words or less (which is what these pieces do) is plainly a ridiculously restrictive exercise, in much the same way that trying to write a pop song that lasts no more than two minutes is; but who doesn’t love a two-minute pop song? Random selections are also in the sidebar in grey.
